We purchase metal, we categorize, package  and sell to larger facility, who bale, shred, put on rail cars, ships, to be brought to foundries in the US or shipped overseas for the final destinations to be made into products and remarketed into household items, autos or equipment, industrial building materials etc, then as these items no matter how large or small, break down from age, weather overuse etc, the process starts again, the circle of the life of scrap metal.
